Helen Cooper, a dedicated Bowen therapist and passionate educator, has been transforming lives through her practice and teaching for over 20 years. Based in the serene Highlands of Scotland, Helen runs MyWellnessConnected, a holistic health clinic that offers a range of gentle and effective therapies designed to aid recovery from injury or illness, manage pain, and address mental health issues.
Helen’s journey into Bowen Therapy began in a rather serendipitous manner. “When my children were young, I decided to leave the corporate world. I had always been really interested in health and fitness. I’m a sportswoman myself. I play several different sports, and I love being in the outdoors,” Helen recalls. Her father accidentally discovered Bowen Therapy, which worked wonders for him, leading her parents to encourage Helen to explore this healing practice. “My parents phoned me up and they said, this is just amazing. You have got to do this because I knew that this is the sort of thing I was looking to do,” she shares.
A Passion for Teaching and Healing
Helen vividly remembers her first Bowen Therapy training course over two decades ago. “I can still to this day, remember the very first training course that I went on over 20 years ago, and it just changed my life. It’s been an absolute joy to be a practitioner,” Helen says. Her enthusiasm for Bowen Therapy is contagious, and she loves sharing her knowledge and experience with others. “I absolutely adore teaching Bowen Therapy. A lot of the people who I teach have actually been my clients in the past, so it’s really lovely to impart some of my knowledge,” she explains.

Courses at Bowen College UK
Helen is an integral part of Bowen College UK, where she teaches the Introduction to Bowen Therapy course and her newly developed CPD course, Enhancing Your Therapeutic Touch. The Introduction to Bowen Therapy course is perfect for those looking to explore this gentle and effective treatment. “If you can’t do the Introduction to Bowen Therapy and then that’s a really great way to see if you want to take it further. But that two days you will learn so much and you’ll become confident about body working and being able to help other people,” Helen explains.
Her CPD course, Enhancing Your Therapeutic Touch, was developed in response to requests from her Bowen colleagues who sought to refine their touch and sensitivity. “By slowing down, feeling, responding and adapting we create more sensitivity of touch. We have a better understanding of using ‘equal and opposite pressure’ for the moves and for noticing subtle changes in the body,” Helen elaborates. This workshop is designed to help therapists develop a more intuitive, therapeutic touch, enhancing their ability to connect with clients and deliver effective treatments.
Helen’s Philosophy
Helen believes that learning Bowen Therapy can significantly impact one’s life. “If you’re looking for something within your own life that is going to make you feel good about yourself, about helping other people, it can really strengthen your understanding of your own body,” she says. Her teaching philosophy emphasises hands-on experience, adapting learning styles to suit each student, and making the learning process fun and engaging.
