Discover the Healing Power of Bowen Therapy

Bowen Therapy is a simple and effective hands-on therapy that uses very gentle pressure to stimulate the body to ‘reboot’ itself. During a treatment, gentle moves are applied to the body using thumbs or fingers, combined with deliberate pauses to allow the body’s own innate healing response to engage. This technique is designed to help you quickly overcome the challenges of various stressors, helping you achieve a relaxed body and mind.

How Does Bowen Therapy Work?

Bowen Therapy stimulates cellular and nervous system communication, reaching deeper tissues and organs, promoting the body’s innate ability to heal. This gentle technique can be performed without concern of harm, leaving the client feeling relaxed and renewed.

Clients often report symptoms of physical detoxification and emotional clarity. Treatments are typically performed once a week, giving time for integration to take place until recovery is achieved.

“Bowen is different from other techniques as it integrates mind-body connections, facilitating a holistic approach to health. The treatment is subtle, relaxing, and prompts the body to reset, repair, and balance itself. The first treatment is often referred to as a “Reboot” treatment, enabling the body’s systems to “re-start” and align.”

The Origins of Bowen Therapy

Bowen Therapy was developed by Tom Bowen of Geelong, Australia. Known for his healing gift, Tom Bowen treated an astonishing number of people in his clinic, and his technique quickly gained a reputation for its effectiveness. Tom Bowen’s approach was unique; he didn’t formally teach his work but allowed others to observe and learn, leading to various interpretations and refinements of his techniques over time.

Today, Bowen Therapy continues to evolve, integrating modern understandings of anatomy with a fascial understanding and focus, elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and craniosacral theory, thanks to the contributions of practitioners and researchers worldwide.
