Helen Cooper, an experienced Bowen therapist and passionate educator, is excited to introduce her latest Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course: Enhancing Your Therapeutic Touch. This one-day workshop is designed to help therapists refine their intuitive, therapeutic touch, enhance their sensitivity to feedback, and become more skilled at adapting pressure and sensing responses.
Course Overview: Enhancing Your Therapeutic Touch
Helen Cooper developed this course in response to requests from her Bowen colleagues who felt confident in their clinical understanding of Bowen moves but struggled with the sensitivity of touch and feedback. She shares, “A few years ago I was approached by some of my Bowen colleagues who asked me to help them with the touch and response side of their practice. They felt that they had a full understanding of the clinical side of Bowen moves but were lacking in sensitivity of touch and struggled to feel responses and changes after the moves were applied.”
This workshop promises to be a transformative experience, allowing participants to delve deeply into their practice, using a range of techniques to analyse and refine their touch. Helen emphasises the importance of time in this process: “By slowing down, feeling, responding and adapting we create more sensitivity of touch. We have a better understanding of using ‘equal and opposite pressure’ for the moves and for noticing subtle changes in the body.”
What to Expect
Participants in the Enhancing Your Therapeutic Touch workshop can look forward to a day of profound learning and personal growth. The course includes:
- Exploring Techniques: Learn to analyse and refine your own practice through various techniques.
- Developing Sensitivity: Enhance your sensitivity to touch and feedback by slowing down and adapting.
- Understanding Pressure: Gain a better understanding of using ‘equal and opposite pressure’ and noticing subtle changes in the body.
- Client Interaction: Learn to reassure your clients, ask pertinent questions if needed, or allow them more time to rest and benefit from the treatment.
One of Helen’s recent workshop attendees shared, “I had an amazing day, thank you. Helen, you are a great teacher and your workshop really helped. You’ve made me think again which is great!”
