At Bowen College UK, we’re proud to have dedicated tutors who bring their passion for holistic health into everything they teach.
In this blog, Bowen Tutor Amanda Philipe-Savage shares her journey from practitioner to teacher—how she overcame self-doubt, found her voice, and discovered the deep joy of guiding others in Bowen Therapy.
If you’re curious about learning Bowen Therapy, stepping into a new career, or simply looking for a fresh perspective on holistic healing, Amanda’s story offers a real glimpse into the transformative power of Bowen Therapy.

If you had told me years ago that I would be standing in front of a class teaching Bowen Therapy, I would have laughed.
Up until 2019, the thought of teaching, standing in front of strangers (or even worse, people I knew) to deliver a lesson, felt completely out of reach. How could I possibly talk and demonstrate at the same time? What if someone asked a question I wasn’t prepared for? The idea of publicly sharing my knowledge felt overwhelming.
But looking back, I realise that everything I needed was already within me. Years of practising Bowen Therapy had given me the muscle memory and deep understanding of my craft; I just needed the confidence to vocalise what I already knew. And when it came to answering questions, I didn’t need a script; I simply had to story-tell from my own clinical experiences.

The Leap into Teaching
In 2019, I took a leap I never thought possible. I qualified as a tutor at Bowen College UK, teaching their Introduction to Bowen Therapy Course. It was a turning point for me; I realised that sharing my knowledge wasn’t about performance, it was about connection. When I stepped into teaching, something shifted within me. The more I taught, the more I grew.
Fast forward to 2024, and I am now qualified to teach the Certified Bowen Healthcare Practitioner Course. What once felt terrifying has now become one of my greatest joys.
What Teaching Taught Me
Stepping into the role of a teacher didn’t just impact my students; it profoundly impacted me. Through their questions, I deepened my understanding. Through their curiosity, I was reminded of why I started this journey in the first place. Teaching became a two-way exchange, where I wasn’t just sharing; I was learning, growing, and refining my own insights.
Together with my clinical and teaching experiences, I was led to writing again. I designed a course for individuals and therapists alike, focusing on understanding how trauma is held in the body and how it can be released or reframed to resolve health concerns at a cellular level. It was a natural extension of my work; one that felt truly aligned with my purpose and is now offered at Bowen College UK as a CPD course – the Emotional Reset course.
Building Connection Through Healing
In addition to teaching Bowen Therapy, I also began leading a bi-monthly guided meditation group. These sessions focus on specific themes that many people struggle with, providing a safe space for healing and transformation.
I now see that my role isn’t just to practice Bowen Therapy; it’s to guide, teach, and support others on their own wellness journeys. My voice, which once felt small, has found its place. And I know that this is only the beginning.

We Don’t Have to Walk This Journey Alone
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that wellness isn’t meant to be a solo journey. Whether through Bowen Therapy, meditation, or simply sharing stories, there is strength in connection.
If you’re feeling called to explore how Bowen Therapy can help you; whether to release trauma, find balance, or deepen your understanding of the body, I’m here to support you. Healing isn’t about fixing what’s broken; it’s about realigning with what has always been within you.
