Bowen Meridian Connections LIVE!
Explore the connections between Bowen, meridians and myofascial pathways — in person
Discover a fascinating new perspective on Bowen Therapy through the channel, or meridian, system of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Bowen Meridian Connections LIVE is a two-day, in-person course exploring the relationships between acupuncture channels, myofascial pathways and familiar Bowen procedures.
Rather than learning the theory on your own, you’ll have the opportunity to explore these ideas together through teaching, discussion, practical examples and hands-on learning — bringing the connections off the page and into your practice.
See Bowen through a different lens
Have you ever wondered why working in one area of the body can appear to have effects somewhere quite different?
Or noticed similarities between the pathways you work with through Bowen and some of the traditional meridian maps of the body?
Bowen Meridian Connections introduces you to the foundational ideas of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and explores how they can offer another way of thinking about the relationships within the body.
You’ll look at how Bowen procedures correspond with particular meridians and acupuncture points, alongside their relationship with myofascial pathways.
This course gives you another framework through which to explore the work you are already doing — helping you make connections, ask new questions and deepen your understanding of Bowen.
Bringing Meridian Connections to life
“Bowen Meridian Connections has been available as an online course for some time, but I’ve always felt there was something especially valuable about bringing this material into the room. Being able to explore the ideas together, ask questions as they arise, work through practical examples and actually feel the relationships we’re talking about creates a much richer learning experience. With something as embodied as Bowen, there’s a real benefit to learning alongside other practitioners and making those connections together.”
~Jihan Adem, Founder, Bowen College UK
Ready to make new connections?
Spend two days looking at familiar Bowen work from an entirely new perspective.
Explore meridian pathways, myofascial connections and Traditional Chinese Medicine alongside other Bowen practitioners — and discover how these different ways of understanding the body can enrich your thinking and your practice.
What will we explore?
Across the two days, you’ll be introduced to key concepts including:
- The foundations of Yin and Yang
- Qi and its functions
- The Five Element Theory
- Meridians and their associated organ systems
- Key points along the meridian pathways
- The relationship between meridians and myofascial pathways
- Bowen moves and their associations with particular channels
- How different channel relationships can offer another perspective on whole-body patterns
- Practical applications of TCM concepts within Bowen practice
There will be plenty of opportunity to discuss how these ideas relate to your existing Bowen knowledge and explore them through practical work.
Deepen the way you think about Bowen
This course is not about replacing the way you already practise.
It is about adding another layer.
By looking at Bowen through the lens of meridian theory, you can begin to explore connections between different parts of the body in a new way and develop a broader framework for thinking about the work you do with clients.
For practitioners who enjoy asking why, rather than simply learning what to do, Meridian Connections offers a rich area of exploration.
Who is Bowen Meridian Connections LIVE for?
This course is designed for Bowen students and practitioners who would like to deepen their understanding of the body and explore another perspective on their existing work.
You do not need previous training in Traditional Chinese Medicine or acupuncture.
We will introduce the core concepts you need during the course and explore them specifically in relation to Bowen Therapy.
Meet your tutors
Bowen Meridian Connections LIVE is taught by Jihan Adem, founder of Bowen College UK, and Rebecca Ellis, Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner, Acupuncturist and Movement Therapist.
Together, they bring complementary perspectives to the course: Jihan draws on nearly three decades of experience with Bowen Therapy and practitioner education, while Rebecca brings a particular depth of knowledge from her work across Bowen, acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, therapeutic movement and yoga.
Their shared interest in how different systems of understanding the body can illuminate one another makes this a particularly rich course to explore in person — with plenty of space for discussion, questions and practical learning.
